After CENTCOM Capitol now eyes PC Hills lots

Le Phyllis F. Antojado-Orillaneda - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  After recovering the initial 16 titled lots from the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Central Command (AFP-CentCom), the Cebu Provincial Government is now in the process of regaining another donated lot occupied by the police.

Lot 1157 which measures 25,970 square meters and a portion of Lot 1158 with 25,853 square meters, which is widely known as PC Hills, is what the Capitol is trying to recover.

In 1959, the Capitol donated the said lots to the Philippine Constabulary (PC) to serve as its headquarters and barracks.

But now that the PC had been dissolved, the Capitol wants to recover the property which is now being occupied by the police.

Garcia wants to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 and other concerned agencies regarding the subject lot.

"I don’t want to cause too much anguish. Sa akin lang, the Province also has to be justly compensated for the lot. You cannot get the lot for free, but it’s of no moment because you will be dealing with the National Housing Authority (NHA), with PAG-IBIG where they have very liberal terms in repayment…it will be NHA and PAG-IBIG that will pay the Province of Cebu," said Garcia during her meeting with PRO-7 Director Roque Eduardo Vega, legal officer of PRO-7 and  Capitol Legal Officer Donato Villa.

In a report by Sugbo News, the 1959 deed of donation stated that should the PC no longer use the lot, it will be reverted back to the Capitol.

In 1975, the Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police merged into PC-INP. However, the PC-INP was dissolved in 1991 and became Philippine National Police. – GAN (FREEMAN)
