Barangay officials urged: Help curb illegal parking
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Transportation Office is asking the barangay officials to help curb illegal parking in their respective barangays.
In a post on Facebook, the CCTO lamented how rampant the overnight parking has been in the barangays despite their continued operations.
"Bisan pa og gisige na namo og balik balikan og operasyon apan padayon lang gihapon sa pag parking kining mga tawhana," read part of the CCTO post on its Facebook page.
In fact, 116 illegally parked vehicles have been clamped by the CCTO operatives during their operation on Tuesday evening. The city’s traffic agency has also been acting complaints against overnight parking in barangay roads.
"Kawang lang ang atong paningkamot sa pagpahapsay sa kadalanan kun dili mo kooperar ang mga barangay officials sa pag badlong ug pagpa implementar nga mahawan hangtod sa suok sa inyong barangay aron magamit kun adunay motumaw nga emerhensiya," the CCTO added.
The roads that the CCTO personnel patrolled last Tuesday night include Arellano Blvd., Dona Maria 2, F. Sotto, V. Sotto, Palma St., F. Jaca, S. Osmeña, R. Paloma, 3rd St. San Carlos Heights, Bayabas, Mambaling flyover, White Road in Inayawan, Cabreros, Bulacao Community, St. Jude Bulacao, Sanciangko, Climaco, Basak Bontores, J. Tabura, San Antonio, Alumnos, and Nangka in Mambaling.
The CCTO has also called on the motorists to follow the traffic rules and avoid illegal parking.
Clearing the streets from obstructions is one of the priority projects of the city government to achieve Mayor Michael Rama’s vision for the city to be like Singapore.
CCTO records show that during the first 15 days of September a total of 10,502 traffic violators were apprehended. At least 342 motorcycles were impounded and 464 vehicles were clamped and issued citation for overnight parking. — FPL (FREEMAN)
