CEBU, Philippines —  The Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu City Chapter has elected Cebu City Councilor Jocelyn Pesquera as its new president.

“Rest assured, all opportunities will be given to all the members. Sa PCL, way partidohay. In PCL, we only have one party,” said Councilor Pesquera as reported by the city’s Public Information Office.

City Councilor Jerry Guardo was also elected vice president; Councilor Noel Wenceslao, secretary-general; and Renato Osmeña, Jr., treasurer.

Pesquera stated that she is considering running for a higher position in the national PCL during its elections in March 2023. She said she would aspire to hold the position of island vice president for Visayas, national vice chairperson, or national Public Relations Officer (PRO).

“I am already in talks sa atong leaders sa PCL kung unsay available na position,” she said.

Pesquera previously served as island vice president and treasurer for the Visayas in the national PCL. Other Cebu City officials elected to the PCL-Cebu City Chapter include Councilors Phillip Zafra and Francis Esparis as chapter directors, Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros as PRO, and Councilor Pastor Alcover, Jr. as business manager.

The new set of officers took their oath in front of Mayor Michael Rama, who is a former PCL national chairman.

Pesquera selected Councilor Jaypee Labella and Councilor James Anthony Cuenco, who were not present during the election, as the auditor and chapter director, respectively.

Additional chapter directors were also appointed Councilors Rey Gealon and Jose Lorenzo Abellanosa. — Shaina Fame Marie P. Mabatid, UV Intern, FPL (FREEMAN)
