Man hides drugs in underwear, nabbed at MCIA

CEBU, Philippines — A man who hid suspected drugs inside his underwear was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 on Monday at the Terminal 1 of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

PDEA-7 spokesperson Leia Albiar-Alcantara identified the suspect as Vincent Obong, 27-year-old, jobless, who was bound for Leyte.

After the metal detector triggered the suspect during the final security check, the suspect was flagged by personnel of Office for Transportation Security (OTS).

Found from the suspect were a pouch containing a small packet of shabu weighing around 0.01 gram and drug paraphernalia hidden inside his underwear.

Elements of PDEA-7 Airport Interdiction Unit (AIU) and MCIA Police Station - Aviation Security Unit-7 responded to the incident.

The seized pieces of evidence were turned over to PDEA-7 AIU for further examination by PDEA-7 laboratory.

Obong will be facing charges of violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — GMR (FREEMAN)
