CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Council has requested the Land Management Office (LMO) to conduct an inventory of all parcels of land donated to the city government.

Councilor Jocelyn Pesquera sponsored a resolution regarding the matter which was approved by the council Wednesday.

The council likewise requested the LMO to submit a report within 90 days from the approval of the resolution.

“The Cebu City Government owned a number of parcels of land which were acquired by way of donation; however, titles of said donated parcels of land have not been transferred to the city government,” said Pesquera.

Mayor Michael Rama created the LMO through Executive Order No. 1 dated January 14, 2011.

The office is tasked to conduct an inventory of residential lands, government-owned lands, unregistered, abandoned and idle lands, and other types of lands.

Meanwhile, the City Council also requested the Department of Public Services (DPS) and the General Services Office (GSO) to conduct an inventory of all the artesian wells owned by the city government and to have these data gathered therein be incorporated into the database of the Geographic Information System (GIS).

Pesquera said that the city government has been a donee of a number of parcels of land, which were utilized in constructing artesian wells on the donated land.

“There is a need to have all the claims and rights of the Cebu City Government be reflected on the Original Certificate of Title (OCT) or Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT) pertaining to the donated lots,” she said.

The councilor added that it is imperative that the city government has records of all these donated parcels of land as well as the artesian wells constructed thereat.

With this, the council also requested the GSO to have the claims and rights of the city government on the aforementioned parcels of land be annotated on the OCT or TCT pertaining to the donated lots. --  JMD (FREEMAN)
