CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Public Library is keeping up with times as it is looking at uploading 15,000 e-books through its Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) by September of this year.

The target date to accomplish the task is within the first 100 days of Mayor Michael Rama’s upcoming term.

The City Library will be utilizing the Follet Destiny Library system software which is also being used by the Cebu Normal University (CNU) and the Cebu Technological University (CTU).

While this is still being worked out, Rosario Chua, head of the City Public Library, said they are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Those who are looking for a quiet place to review for an exam may also go to the city library.

Chua said some bar examinees and other successful examination takers have even returned to the library after their exams to thank them for being part of their achievement.

The City Library has also been a tourist attraction since it also houses a Rizal museum in the same building. — JMD (FREEMAN)
