Man arrested for blackmailing woman with nude photos
CEBU, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas has arrested a man for threatening to spread nude photos of a woman unless she agrees to give him money or have sexual intercourse with him.
The suspect, Mark Anthony Beltran Daclan, was arrested in an entrapment operation at D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City on June 6, 2022.
Daclan, a resident of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, used the name Jade Axe on Facebook Messenger to contact the victim, claiming that he had something important to discuss with her.
Believing the urgency of the matter, the woman engaged with Daclan which led her to learn that he had her nude photos.
He showed the woman a preview of the photos to provoke fear.
Daclan disclosed to the victim that he had copied and saved the said explicit content from one of the mobile phones swapped at a Facebook marketplace.
Afterwards, Daclan laid out his demand from the victim, saying that he will not spread her photos if the victim agrees to either give him money or have intercourse with him.
“But we do agreement if ok ka di nako ikatag hehehe we can do sex o give money ka,” Daclan said via chat message to the victim.
The woman immediately sought help from the NBI-CEVRO after the incident.
After confirming the place and date of the meet-up between Daclan and the victim, NBI-CEVRO operatives led by Agent III Maria Contessa DC. Lastimoso prepared for an entrapment operation.
During the meet-up, Daclan reportedly was not contented with the money given to him by the victim.
He then proceeded to lead the victim to a lodge 500 meters away from the meeting area to have sexual intercourse with her.
Daclan was later arrested in the afternoon by operatives for violating the provisions of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
He was subjected to inquest proceedings on June 8, 2022 and an amount of P42,000 was recommended for bail. — Chiel Martina Y. Condor, CNU Intern, GMR (FREEMAN)
