Inayawan road rehab starts
CEBU, Philippines — After all the waiting and persistence, asphalting of damaged roads in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City has already started, thanks to the new administration of the city government, village captain Kirk Bryan Repollo quipped.
Repollo may be identified with Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, the opponent of the present administration, but said he knows how to give credit to where credit is due.
“Magkinahanglan pa gyud diay nga lahi na ang mga tagdumala sa City Hall para kita matagad sa daghan na natong requests…Sa pag-usab, daghang salamat Cebu City Government!” said Repollo in a Facebook post.
Inayawan had been requesting the city government to repair several roads in the barangays since 2019, but was left unattended.
Last September 8, 2021, Repollo appealed to the Cebu City government to treat the barangays fairly in terms of providing basic services.
Repollo had written letters to then mayor Edgardo Labella concerning the rehabilitation of White Road, Upper Inayawan, Dona Rosa, Sitio Palwa Maria, 5. F.Jaca St. (Greenfield entrance) and Sitio Sea Lion.
With no action, Inayawan took the initiative to start concreting some areas including Sitio Sea Lion to Pansang and part of Palwa Maria.
Now with Mayor Michael Rama taking charge of the city following Labella’s death, their request was already acted upon.
Some of the roads already being asphalted are Greenfields and Dona Rosa.
“Sumala sa mga gaaspalto nga gingutana sa atong staff, aspaltohon ang mga dalan nga atong gi-request. Salamat sa Cebu City government karon,” said Repollo.
Other areas that still need rehabilitation include White Road, Palwa Maria and Upper Inayawan.
“Ang White Road kay taas-taas ug dako gyud ug trabahonoon kay katong heavily damaged nga part kay maayong abunuhan para masaka ang dan,” said Repollo. —KQD (FREEMAN)
