CEBU, Philippines —  Barili, Cebu Mayor Julito “Julie” Flores is supporting Ace Durano and Vice Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III who are seeking gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial posts, respectively, in next year’s polls.

Durano and Davide are both running under Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya commonly known (BAKUD).

The Durano-Davide tandem also endorsed the reelection bid of Flores during the Cebu Provincial Operators Transport Cooperative meeting in Carcar City on November 17.

“Daan man pud mi kauban pud ni Junjun Davide syempre diri ta pasilong sa Durano-Davide tandem,” said Flores.

Flores is up against Barili Councilor Pablo John "John-john" Garcia IV, the son of the late mayor of Barili Marlon Garcia and nephew of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia. John-john is running for mayor with Vice Mayor Luisito Ponsica as his running mate under the One Cebu Party

After Marlon died last September 6, Flores, the duly elected vice mayor, succeeded as the mayor.

During the recent meeting with Durano and Davide, Flores said they discussed plans and projects for Barili’s betterment.

“Una ang kining atoang hospital kay kulangan ta og doctors, ikaduha ibalik ang provincial youth commission, so maong lipay kay unya ang kanang 4Ps naa man na sa national, so kadtong wala ma qualify sa 4Ps sa dugay na nga panahon mao to iyang gisaad nga mag butang pa pud ta og 4Ps sa provincial,” he said.

Fair, Clean Campaign

Meanwhile, Durano is calling for a fair campaign after their posters were “slashed” and now their Facebook page was taken down due to “massive reporting.”

"The key to a clean and peaceful campaign is for all candidates, no matter their political alliances, to commit that they'll do their part to a fair and clean campaign. I commit to this because I believe Cebuanos deserve a peaceful campaign," Durano said in a statement.

Facebook guidelines stated that a Facebook page or account will be taken down if it is reported for graphic violence, hate speech, harassment, bullying, nudity, sexual activity and sexual exploitation.

But Durano’s camp belied posting those kinds of contents, saying that its page is “only posting their activities in Cebu Province and that nothing that would constitute grounds for it to be reported”.

“So the concerted effort of those behind the mass reporting is designed so the people would not know our programs and the growing support we're getting all over the Province," Durano said.

Durano will be facing incumbent Governor Garcia and retired military Nito Magananao in 2022 polls. — KQD (FREEMAN)
