Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Eleven graduates who topped in various nationwide licensure exams will get financial incentives from the Cebu City government pursuant to an existing city ordinance.

The office of acting vice mayor Donaldo “Dondon” Hontiveros has identified the following topnotchers to be eligible for the incentive:

Nino Jasper Gomez and Matthew Antecristo, who placed 5th and 6th, respectively, in the naval architect exams last June, and Juliefe Cuenca, who topped the real estate appraiser’s exam last September. All of them are graduates of the University of Cebu.

Hobby Alonzo Capuyan and Genevieve Langga, who placed 2nd and 7th, respectively, in the mining engineer exams last August. They are both graduates of the Cebu Institute of Technology-University.

Benson Heinrick Go, who placed 1st; Mark Anthony Flordelis, 2nd; and Magdalena Beatriz Arriola and Gerard Borbon, who were tied at 6th in the architect licensure exams last August. They are all graduates of the University of San Carlos.

Jude Philip Cebrecus, who topped the physician licensure exams last September, and Kirk Louie Amandoron, who placed 7th in the same exams, both of whom are from the Cebu Institute of Medicine.

According to the city ordinance, city residents who will place 1st in the physician and bar exams will get P100,000 as financial incentive; those placing 2nd to 5th will receive P50,0000; while those placing 6th to 10th, P20,000.

For other licensure exams given by the Professional Regulation Commission, the topnotcher or 1st placer will get P50,000; 2nd to 5th placers, P25,000; and other top 10 finishers, P15,000.

Hontiveros has so far turned over two checks representing the financial incentives to two topnotchers. Those for the others are still being processed and will be contacted once the checks are ready for distribution.

He is urging other topnotchers from Cebu City to coordinate with his office to be able to get their incentives.

For details and clarification, Hontiveros said concerned individuals may call 412-1782. — JMD (FREEMAN)
