EOC asks organizers to shift to house-to-house feeding

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has appealed to politicians or different groups who are holding feeding programs to conduct it through house-to-house scheme.

Councilor Joel Garganera, head of the EOC, said that while the city is still facing a rise in the COVID-19 cases, any activity that could draw crowds, especially children must be avoided.

The councilor is concerned of the health of the children.

He added that the government needs the cooperation of the public to stop the further rise of the cases.

Last week, the EOC is appealing to political personalities to avoid holding gatherings like "pulong-pulong" and other forms of political meetings.

Just this this month, the Archdiocese of Cebu had ordered that no Holy Mass be allowed to sitio chapels.

According to Garganera, with the continued increase of city's COVID-19 cases, it's time to unite and help the government in minimizing the transmission within the community.

Cebu City has 308 new cases on July 24 based on the Department of Health data bringing the total of 2,009 active cases and 68 additional recoveries.

The national health agency recently deployed additional medical workers to Cebu City following the increased admission to the hospitals. — GMR (FREEMAN)
