CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Central Visayas has already started the payouts for the cash-for-work program in the municipalities of Medellin, Daanbantayan, and Samboan, Cebu.

The program is under the KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB (Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay).

DSWD-7 released P2.5 million for the honoraria of 974 beneficiaries who rendered work for five days by cleaning the streets, shorelines and by disinfecting public areas in their respective towns.

The beneficiaries also engaged in backyard gardening.

“Dako akong pasalamat sa DSWD ug sa mga nagpaluyo niining programa kay nahatagan ko og higayon nga mapalambo ang akoang pagpananom og utanon (I am very grateful to this program because it gave me the opportunity to improve my vegetable farming),” said Bernarda Pino of Barangay Curva, Medellin.

She said the fresh vegetables from her garden help in their daily needs.

Meanwhile, on May 26, 2021, the department also released P350,000 grant to the municipality of Guindulman in Bohol province. The town has 96 beneficiaries.
