Capitol expects fewer passengers at CSBT
CEBU, Philippines — The management of the two provincial-run bus terminals in Cebu is expecting an estimated 15,000 passengers to flock the terminals starting today until tomorrow, April 1, for Lent.
Carmen Quijano, the manager of the provincial-run terminals, said they are expecting at least 10,000 passengers crowd the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) and an estimated 5,000 people to flock the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT).
Though, Quijano said the figure is lower compared to the number of passengers from the previous Holy Weeks.
“Lahi naman gyud karon kay naa may pandemic,” Quijano said.
Nevertheless, Quiajno urged the public to travel early to avoid crowding.
“Mao nga akong awhag sa mga pasahero, magsayo-sayo og uli ug dili daghan ang gamit aron dili huot ug magdasok sa terminal inig byahe,” Quijano said.
The management is assuring that there are enough buses that will ferry the passengers.
Quijano said police personnel from the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) have already been deployed since Monday to augment the security at the terminal.
At CSBT, she said tents will be installed inside the terminal for the passengers waiting for their turn to enter the facility and get their tickets and wait for their bus.
“Maninguha man gyud ta nga di moabot ang linya sa mga tawo sa gawas kay para di ta kahuot traffic,” Quiano said.
The CSBT management also wants passengers to familiarize with the process on the soon-to-be centralized automated ticketing system at the terminal, which will fully operate in April, as equipment are already installed inside the facility. — GMR (FREEMAN)
