CEBU, Philippines — With the expected surge of people on Valentine’s Day, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will tighten the enforcement of Oplan Bulabog this weekend.

"This coming weekend, mas atong pahugtan (ang Oplan Bulabog) considering nga Valentine's Day and then ang uban duna na sa'y mga sweldo. So possible nga mas modaghan nasad atong mga katawhan magsuroy-suroy o ba kaha naa sa imnanan," said CCPO deputy director for operations Wilbert Parilla.

All police station chiefs are also directed to identify the potential places in the city where people may gather this weekend, aside from Plaza Independencia and Fuente Circle.

"We will deploy our personnel sa mga lugar to make it sure nga safety ang atoang katawhan and then at the same time bisan sa ilahang pagpanuroy, mapabilin nato nga mapatuman ang atoang quarantine protocols," he added.

During another round of Oplan Bulabog Thursday evening, a total of 93 quarantine violators, including 13 minors, were apprehended by the police.

Of the 93 individuals, 56 of them violated the curfew hour, 13 for the liquor ban, while the rest violated the other health protocols, such as non-wearing of mask and without quarantine pass.

Earlier, Parilla urged the public, particularly the couples, to avoid meeting in person to celebrate Valentine's Day.

He said couples can continue on with the celebration while having a "virtual relationship" so as not to contract the virus.

Parilla also emphasized security especially those meeting in person for the first time.

However, Parilla said in jest that couples can meet if they can show their negative swab test results. — KQD (FREEMAN)
