P1.3 million shabu seized from high-value suspect
CEBU, Philippines — Elements of Abellana Police Station of Cebu City Police Office have seized 200 grams of shabu worth at least P1.3 million from a suspected high-value individual in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City last Sunday night.
The operation resulted to the arrest of a certain Christopher Luces Babatid, a resident of Sitio Mangga, Barangay Calamba.
According to Police Major Elisandro Quijano, Abellana Police Station chief, the suspect could dispose of a total of 25 grams of shabu per week.
"Listed ni sya, gi-monitor na ni siya daan, sumpay ni siya atong dakop sa CIB (City Intelligence Branch) kay same man ang putos niya nga naa sa ice water," said Quijano.
Quijano further said that Babatid's area of disposal would still be in Cebu City wherein his sources were believed to have been from the jails.
"Naa ni siya’y mga contacts, kini siya natingub ni siya, wala pa ni ma-hold tanan," said Quijano quoting the initial details of their investigation.
At present, Quijano said they will be backtracking Babatid's activities to trace if he have still more cohorts in the illegal drug trading as it will be subject for their follow-up operation.
Authorities are just waiting for the fiscal's schedule for the inquest proceeding of the suspect while he was detained in Abellana Police Station. — GMR (FREEMAN)
