P80 million road projects in Poro inaugurated
CEBU, Philippines — Three big-ticket infrastructure projects were inaugurated in Poro town on Camotes Island, northern Cebu over the weekend.
The projects are the concreting of farm-to-market road from Barangay Eastern Poblacion to Barangay Altavista FMR (P12.5 million); the concreting of Poblacion Poro road section phase II, which stretches up to four kilometers (P55 million); and the concreting of Poblacion Poro road section phase 1 in Barangay Mercedes.
“We held the groundbreaking and turnover of close to P80 million in road concreting projects in conjunction with the 5th District and the Province of Cebu, for the purpose of improving the life and travel in the Municipality of Poro,” read the Facebook post of Cebu Fifth District Representative Vincent “Duke” Frasco.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who led the inauguration, said the provincial government made sure that the infrastructure projects push through despite the pandemic.
“Despite the pandemic, the Province of Cebu did not realign its funds intended for infrastructure. The infrastructure projects across the Province will continue,” Garcia was quoted in Sugbo News, the official news site of the Cebu Provincial Public Information Office (PIO).
She said the P12.5 million concreting project will not be realized without the initiative of Frasco.
Although it is a provincial road, Garcia said, Frasco got the funds for the project from the national government.
“Frasco sourced funds from the national government for this undertaking because of his love and care for the people of Poro,” she said.
She said the province will continue the road concreting project initiated by Frasco until Barangay AltaVista. The construction will commence next month.
Also present during the inauguration were Frasco, Provincial Board Member Andrei “Red” Duterte, San Francisco Mayor Al Arquillano, Poro Mayor Gary Rama, Tudela Mayor Greman Solante and Pilar Mayor Manuel Santiago. — KQD (FREEMAN)
