Police secure ‘roaming’ PUM
CEBU, Philippines — The police have provided security and assistance to the alleged patient under monitoring (PUM) for COVID-19 found in San Nicolas, Cebu City last Wednesday night.
Police Major Alvin Llamedo, Carbon Police Station chief, said they have provided security after Barangay Pahina Central officials asked for their assistance to escort a woman back to Pahina San Nicolas at around 9 p.m. the other night.
“Ambot lang ug ni-eskapo ba kaha to siya, pero identified na to sa Pahina Central. Nag-abang kuno to siya diri, pero taga Pahina San Nicolas daw to,” Llamedo said.
He added that it was the officials of Pahina Central who claimed that the woman was a PUM.
“Ni-provide rajud mi ug security engkaso ug mo-react ba pero wala ra man, cooperative raman pud,” Llamedo said.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Hector Grijaldo Jr. said they are yet to verify if the said woman has indeed escaped from the hospital.
“Right now, we’ll be checking into the information, kasi andaming information na ganito but after we conduct our investigation wala naman,” Grijaldo said.
Grijaldo further asked for the public’s cooperation to stop posting unverified information, as it will only raise the stress level not only of the reading public but also to the policemen who will be conducting the investigation.
