Labella picks HR exec to join MCWD Board
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has appointed a new member of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) Board to represent the women’s sector.
“I am appointing a lady, a woman, she is Jodelyn May Seno, an HR practitioner. She has expertise on proper placement of personnel,” said Labella.
To recall, Labella first appointed former mayor Alvin Garcia to represent the women’s sector. But the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) rejected the appointment of Garcia.
In a letter from LWUA dated January 27, it said that he was not qualified to represent the women’s sector, and such position should be filled by a woman to represent the organization.
Labella said that with Seno’s years of expertise in the field of handling people, she will be able to help evaluate and train the MCWD personnel.
“Because MCWD has so many skilled workers and they should be placed in their proper places, and that there are also some employee-employer problems sa MCWD, although not that big so I think we need an HR practitioner,” said Labella.
Last February, three of the five newly-appointed members of the MCWD Board took their oath to formally assume their post.
Former Cebu City councilor Jose Daluz III, lawyer Francisco “Frank” Malilong Jr., and Miguelito “Mike” Pato are now officially declared members of the MCWD board of directors after their appointments were confirmed by the LWUA.
Daluz as the new chairman with Malilong as vice-chairman. Pato is also the MCWD Board’s new secretary. Daluz and Pato will be serving until December 2024, while Malilong will be serving until December 2022.
On January 6, Labella appointed the new members of the MCWD Board after firing all previous members because of alleged failure to solve the water crisis in Metro Cebu. GAN (FREEMAN)
