Fleet card to be used for Capitol vehicles
CEBU, Philippines — The pre-bidding for the fleet card scheme for all Capitol vehicles is now set to take place.
Bernard Calderon, Provincial General Services Office Head, informed Capitol reporters that they will now conduct pre-bidding for fuel providers on January 14.
He said that the actual bidding process for the interested oil companies will be on the 27th of January.
The provincial government of Cebu allocated a budget of P30 million for this new scheme.
In this scheme, all Capitol vehicles could refuel in any gasoline station of the winning bidder by merely presenting a fleet card.
This is opposed to the previous scheme where vehicles have to refuel at the official oil depot in the Capitol compound.
This scheme will soon apply to all 243 diesel-fed and 93 gasoline-fed vehicles of the Capitol departments.
Back in October 2019, Governor Gwen Garcia announced the shift in the refueling system.
Calderon, in previous interviews, said that this new system will strengthen the monitoring of fuel transactions because all the data will be encoded in the fleet cards.
And since the process will no longer involve cash, the new process is expected to be less susceptible to abuse.
The contract will last for an entire calendar year. GAN (FREEMAN)
