CEBU, Philippines — A benefit concert dubbed as “Tabang Cotabato, Music & Love for Our Countrymen” will be held at the Plaza Independencia on Saturday to raise additional fund for the earthquake victims in Cotabato.

This is in collaboration with the 1901st Infantry Brigade, Sangguniang Panlungsod, Qualfon and 14 different musical bands.

Brig. General Erik Espina, commander of the 1901st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade, said that the amount raised during the concert will be turned over to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command.

It will be the CentCom that will deliver the donation to the affected communities in Cotabato.

“It’s a free concert but please bring one peso, or ten pesos, or one bottle water. We are giving a chance to every Cebuano to be able to contribute and help the people in Cotabato and other parts na na-igo sa linog,” said Espina.

Almost 30 bands have volunteered to join the event but due to the limited time, only 14  were chosen--Missing Filemon, Powerspoonz, Intertwined, Cuarenta, PG18, Johnnie & The Walkers, Ukemia, Brownskin Riddim, Miracle Facts, Keraro, Jerico, Benny Rock, Kobe, and Krizzia Sayson.

“Giawhag nato tanan kabatan-onan, you are all welcome to join the concert, bring your family, it’s a time to celebrate! There is a silver lining in disasters, you know why? It brings the best out of all of us,” said Espina.

There will be donation booths during the event, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be in-charge of the security measures. FPL (FREEMAN)
