PB seeking lots for prov’l cops
CEBU, Philippines — A resolution has been passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan requesting the office of the provincial governor and all district representatives to help in securing lots for police stations.
The resolution that Provincial Board Member Thadeo Ouano has filed indicated that 16 police stations are said to be ‘squatting’ on the local government unit’s property. These police stations are attached to municipal halls.
Thus, these towns’ police chiefs are expected to communicate with local government unit heads on the procurement of these lands.
While Camp Crame is set to cover the construction of the police stations, they do not have ample funds for the acquisition of the lots.
Thus, local government units and the provincial governments are encouraged to donate lots where the stations are to be constructed.
The 16 police stations include that of the municipalities of Alcoy, Alegria, Badian, Boljoon, Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Dalaguete, Dumanjug, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Ronda, Samboan, Santander and Tabogon.
“A standard police station should follow the type ‘BC’ design,” the resolution read.
This design consists of three floors that house a conference room and a detention center.
Also reported in the resolution was the completion of only 19 of the 50 police stations in the province, as of the second quarter of 2019.
These police stations are that of Aloguinsan, Argao, Asturias, Bantayan, Barili and cities in Lapu-lapu and Talisay. — GAN (FREEMAN)
