CEBU, Philippines — A 27-year-old wife was placed behind bars for allegedly killing her husband, 34, inside their house in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Guinsay, Danao City.

The names of the couple are withheld to protect the identity of their two-year-old daughter.

Police Lieutenant Jasper Reyes of Danao City Police Station said the incident happened when the husband, a laborer of a cement company, came home drunk Tuesday late afternoon.

The couple got into a heated argument which led to the stabbing incident.

The wife allegedly stabbed her husband in the right chest using a four-inch kitchen knife.

The Danao City police are now preparing the parricide case to be filed before the Prosecutor's Office against the wife.

Jealousy

Meanwhile, cops are looking into jealousy as the motive behind the stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City Monday night.

Fortunately, Jeremia Baclayon, 22, a resident of the village, survived the attack.

Police have identified five suspects, three of whom were arrested. They are Junel Ocoy, Karl Jay Baculi, and Jade Flores Nabua. Two others are still being pursued by cops.

Police Captain Dexter Basirgo, the chief of Guadalupe Police Station, said Baclayon was walking on his way home when the suspects allegedly approached and stabbed him using a knife and an icepick.

The suspects fled the scene as Baclayon fell on the ground.

Baclayon suffered stab wounds to his abdomen, head, back and feet.

He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment and is now recuperating.

Basirgo said Baclayon's friend has an ongoing conflict with the suspects.
