CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue City Police Office director Sr. Supt. Julian Entoma confirmed that the man killed in Zone Ahos, Barangay Paknaan last Monday was involved in illegal drugs.

Entoma said that Jessie Montibon, 46, was an ex-convict and a known drug courier in the barangay.

Montibon was also a subject of at least two letter complaints before the police office because of indiscriminate firing.

“Ikaduhang letter na ni kay ako man nakapirma ani paghatag sa IDMB (Investigation and Detection Management Branch) sa ilahang tubag sa complaint center, then maghari-hari ni’g pabuto ang maong biktima,” Entoma told reporters.

Entoma said they are now looking at the drug angle as possible motive in his killing. Although Entoma said they will also look into his personal relationship and conflict in the homeowners’ association where Montibon was vice president.

“Tanan anggulo amo pa tanawon, dili mi mo-focus sa involvement sa illegal drugs kay dili pa man nato ma drop ang other angles,” Entoma said.

Montibon was shot dead together with his partner Maribel Tecling, 41, by still unidentified assailants on Monday noon. They were on board a motorcycle near the mangroves area of Zone Ahos when the shooting happened.

Meanwhile, a habal-habal driver was found dead with gunshot wound to the head in Barangay Candabong, Alcantara, Monday morning.

The victim was identified as Jissie Boy Lamosao, 26, resident in the same barangay.

An initial investigation revealed that Lamosao together with a certain “Palito” went to the house of their friends for a karaoke session the night before he was found dead.

Lamasao allegedly left the place together with his two relatives at around 8 p.m. on August 5. Witnesses told the police that they heard gunfire on that night.

According to the police, the victim may have just slept on his motorcycle because of too much drunkenness when he was shot at close range.

“Nagparking ni siya daplin sa karsada, natulog. Murag gi duol ni siya og kalit sa suspect, murag gi dul-it ang pusil sa agtang,” homicide investigator Nestor Tonilon said.—  USJ-R Intern Irene L. Gardose/FPL (FREEMAN)
