Consolacion police among country’s best
CEBU, Philippines — The Consolacion Municipal Police Station was chosen as one of the top three finalists for the 2018 search for best municipal police station in the country in line with the Philippine National Police anniversary celebration next month.
Consolacion will be competing for the top spot with Bagac Municipal Police Station in Bataan and La Trinidad Police Station in Benguet.
Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, Consolacion Police chief, said they are grateful and happy to be included in the top three. Pelare said he did not expect it because there were 1, 486 police stations competing for the municipal category.
Consolacion Police station was recommended by Police Regional Office (PRO) -7 to represent the region in the national competition after winning the best municipal police station search in the regional level last July 2.
Pelare was also recognized as the best junior commissioned officer in the region.
“Amo lang gibuhat ang angayang buhaton. Walay pressure ang amo lang happy na kaayo mi nga naapil mi sa top 3 og padayunon nato ang mga nasugdan na nga mga maayong programa ug pagserbisyo sa katawhan,” Pelare told The FREEMAN.
A team from Camp Crame has already visited the Consolacion Police Station last Thursday for inspection and validation. The winner of the search for Best Municipal Police Station in the country will be announced next month during PNP Service Anniversary in Camp Crame.
Pelare said that the inspection team evaluated his performance in all aspects of administration; operation, programs, and community service.
Pelare authored the Oplan Limpyo, an anti-illegal drug campaign, which he first introduced when he was still the chief of police in Danao City. He also launched the ‘Police and Partners Acts of Kindness for Consolacion Kids’ (PAKS) that gives attention to the street children in Consolacion through weekly feeding program and tutorials.
“Nalipay mi nga nakita sab nila ang atong efforts dili lang sa police but apil na sa community,” Pelare added.
He said that with or without the recognition from the higher headquarters, the Consolacion Police Station will continue to do its best to serve the community and the public.
Pelare was also thankful to the men and women of Consolacion Police Station and to their partners in the private sector and the local government unit for supporting his program.
Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) director Sr. Supt. Manuel Abrugena said he is happy for the achievement of Consolacion.
Abrugena said that being included in the top 3 out of the more than one thousand municipalities is already a big achievement and a tough act to follow.
“The men and women of Cebu PPO is very proud of the achievement of Consolacion MPS. This shows the kind of leadership of (Pelare) and the hard work and dedication to serve of our personnel,” Abrugena said.
He challenged the other municipal police stations in Cebu to also step up and follow achievement of Consolacion. (FREEMAN)
