70 nabbed in Oplan Pokemon

CEBU, Philippines - At least 70 people were arrested during a saturation drive jointly conducted by the police and the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 yesterday afternoon in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Superintendent Ryan Devaras, chief of the Investigation and Detective Management Bureau, said that 10 of those arrested were involved in illegal drugs.

Among those arrested was Glen Mago. His brother Jay-R was wounded but eluded arrest.

The authorities seized several packs of illegal drugs, drug sniffing paraphernalia, 19 video karera machines and at least three firearms.

Devaras said they will submit the firearms for ballistic test to determine if these were used in previous crimes. The police are also conducting profiling of the suspects to determine if there are bigtime criminals among them.

PDEA-7 Agent Melvin Estoque said they have yet to determine the value of illegal drugs seized during the operation.

Estoque said they were thankful of the support of the police during the operation. (FREEMAN)
