Confirmatory test for two city workers

Rowena D. Capistrano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Two of 44 newly hired Cebu City employees who tested positive for using shabu during a surprise drug test on Friday have yet to go confirmatory testing, according to the head of City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention Alice Utlang.

She said there is a big possibility the new emplo-yee will be fired if they test positive after confirmatory testing.

Last December at least 10 of 155 bus drivers, conductors, and helpers at the Cebu South Bus Terminal tested positive for illegal drug use during a surprise drug test.

Of the 10 employees, four of them are conductors, four helpers and two bus drivers.

The test results, how-ever, are still subject to confirmatory testing.

CSBT manager Joey Herrera said those found positive will be banned from the terminal if the confirmatory test, which will be out this month, yield positive results. (FREEMAN)
