The victim was identified as Rienier Andrino, a grade 1 pupil of Gairan Elementary School and a resident of Barangay Gairan.

Investigation disclosed Andrino was on his way home from school when he was accidentally hit by a motorcycle with plate number 075110 registered under the name of Arlinda Thome and driven by one Ryan Grant Jayme, 17, a grade 10 student who did not have a driver's license.

Taxi crashes twice

In Cebu City, a taxi driver was brought to the hospital after his taxi crashed twice in separate incidents Friday night.

The taxi driver, identified as Danilo Tejano, 54, a resident of Sitio Mahusay, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, crashed into a private vehicle owned by Catherine Lim, along Cardinal Rosales Street, Cebu City at 9:15 p.m.

Cebu Traffic Investigator Police Officer 2 Wilfredo Caparida said Lim's vehicle was rear-ended by Tejano's taxi and the latter was obliged to go directly to the Cebu City Transportation Office to settle up, but Tejano never arrived.

Caparida then received a vehicular accident alarm at about 10:50 p.m. along  Biliran Street that also involved Tejano's taxi.

According to Caparida,  Tejano hit another taxi and a motorcycle while he was on his way to CCTO.

Caparida said that Tejano was driving so fast that when the taxi hit a hump in the road, it somersaulted and landed upside down.

"Kung mu-jump na gani ang sakyanan, kusog gyud na ang padagan," said Caparida.

According to another traffic enforcer who responded to the second alarm, he heard that Tejano may have had a heart attack while driving.

Tejano was immediately brought to Cebu City Medical Center while the motorcycle driver sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other taxi was not injured but his vehicle was damaged.

A case for reckless imprudence resulting to damage of property will be filed against Tejano. — Mylen P. Manto and Sheilla Mae Cañete (FREEMAN)
