Man kills buddy out of jealousy

CEBU, Philippines - Out of alleged jealousy, a resident of Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City shot dead his drinking buddy inside his house around 8 a.m. yesterday.

Jesus Bedolido, who was reportedly a close friend of the victim, shot dead Manolito Lucido, 31, while the latter was sleeping inside their house.

The suspect immediately fled after the incident.  He is still at large as of press time.

Senior Police Officer 2 Wetzel Berry, investigator at the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, said they are looking at personal grudge and jealousy as motives of the killing.

He disclosed that Bedolido suspected Lucido of having an interest in the former's live-in partner.

"Amigo kaayo ni sila kay silingan ra gud, kauban sa inom, agi lang gyud ni sa selos nga walay hinungdan," Berry added.

While Lucido was sleeping, the suspect reportedly went inside the victim's house and suddenly shot the victim in the head.

In a separate interview, Rosel Callao, Lucido's cousin, said he was cooking when he saw the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, entering their house.

Personnel of Cebu City Emergency Medical Servi-ces brought the victim to the nearest hospital, but the attending doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

The police recovered an unused bullet of a .357 revolver from the crime scene.

They believed that the same firearm was used in the crime. (FREEMAN)
