CEBU, Philippines - A  Mandaue City Hall employee who is said to be a police asset was shot dead Monday evening by four unidentified gunmen at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Centro.

Gilmar “Polok” Avila, 40, assigned as building guard at the Department of General Services, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Police Officer 2 Jason Flores said the four unidentified assailants riding two motorcycles arrived at 9:30 p.m. and started shooting the victim without a word.

Homicide investigators found at least three identification cards from the victim. These include his driver’s license and his I.D. as confidential agent of the intelligence branch of Police Regional Office-7.

Flores said they are still conducting investigation to determine the motive and to find out whether the killing has something to do with the victim being a police asset. (FREEMAN)
