2 nabbed for drugs; buy-bust subject escapes in Alcantara
CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were arrested and illegal drugs and ammunition worth around P140,000 were seized during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Candabong, Alcantara, Cebu yesterday.
Authorities identified the suspects as Marife Pulgo Lamosao of Candabong and Rey Andrew Banzon of Ilaya, Guinacot, Danao City.
Marlon Pulgo Lamosao, Marife’s brother and the subject of the operation, however, managed to elude arrest.
Alcantara police led by Senior Inspector Andres Alpas and members of the Provincial Public Safety Company 2nd Maneuver Platoon led by PO3 Brian Yosores conducted the operation after learning of Lamosao’s illegal activities.
They arranged a transaction inside a shanty in Candabong around 3 p.m. with a policeman acting as poseur-buyer.
After receiving the P500 marked money, Marlon allegedly instructed Banzon to get two plastic sachets of suspected shabu. Banzon got the packs from inside a pocket of his worn pants and handed it to Marlon, who then gave them to the policeman.
When the pre-arranged signal was given and the police team rushed the shanty, however, Marlon managed to run away with the buy-bust money.
Banzon and Marife, who was allegedly sniffing shabu at that time, also fled but were collared by the policemen.
Marife, the police said, was grasping a transparent plastic containing two small heat-sealed plastic packs with white crystalline substance believed to be shabu inside.
The police said Marife owned the shanty and that they saw drug paraphernalia scattered on the floor during the operation.
Banzon, on the other hand, allegedly yielded a .38 revolver, three bullets of a .38 revolver, P600 cash believed to be proceeds from his illegal drug activity, 10 large packs of suspected shabu weighing 5.2 grams, and a gray Toyota Corolla (GHY 545), among others.
Alcantara police are now preparing complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) against Marlon, Marife, and Banzon. – (FREEMAN)
