US citizen drowns in Badian town
CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old US citizen dies after drowning while snorkeling in Badian, Cebu on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Rick Sison, and a resident of Cebu City at time of death.
Investigation revealed that at about 4 p.m. Sunday, a concerned citizen called the Badian Police Station to give information about a drowning incident in Barangay Lambug, Badian.
Stanley Martinez, nephew of the victim, told the police Sison was snorkeling at Lambug beach around 3 p.m.
An hour later, a concerned citizen saw a person floating on the water.
Sison was brought to Badian District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
While the actual cause of the drowning is still being determined, the attending physician did not detect any signs of foul play in Sison’s death. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
