Today and tomorrow: No water in Metro areas - MCWD

CEBU, Philippines - The Metro Cebu Water District is advising all its  consumers to store water today and tomorrow.

There is water service interruption in many parts of MCWD’s concession area until tomorrow due to upgrading works that started yesterday.

This is in preparation for the upcoming 51st International Eucharistic Congress which will be held starting this Sunday, January 24, until Sunday next week.

MCWD Acting General Manager Noel Dalena is asking consumers to bear with the inconvenience as interruptions would be for a certain period.

‘“We are doing these to serve our consumers better.  We need to do all these upgrading works this week as water is much needed during the IEC,” he said, in a statement.

 MCWD said that between 9 p.m. today and 6 a.m. tomorrow, it will interconnect a pipeline along Mactan Road in Lapu-Lapu City, affecting water supply in Barangay Mactan, Maribago, Agus, and part of Marigondon, Punta Engaño, and Bankal in Lapu-Lapu City.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the same day, MCWD will also alter a pipeline at the corner of San Isidro and Art Village in Talisay City. This will cause service interruption in Tabunok, San Isidro, Dumlog, Poblacion, Cansojong, Biasong, San Roque, Pooc, Mojon, and part of Bulacao, Lawaan, and Lagtang in Talisay City as well as part of Bulacao in Cebu City.

At 10 p.m. last night to 8 a.m. today, MCWD also interconnected a pipeline in its reservoir in Casili, Consolacion which affected water supply in Compostela; Liloan; Consolacion; Mandaue City; Barangay Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City; lower Mabolo, M.J. Cuenco Avenue, North Reclamation Area, Pier area, Carreta, Lorega-San Miguel, Tejero, T. Padilla, Tinago and Barangay San Roque in Cebu City.

Another pipeline interconnection was also done in Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City from 8 p.m. last night to 6 a.m. this morning.

MCWD also interconnected and altered pipelines in Bacayan and Talamban in Cebu City.

On January 21, MCWD interconnected and altered pipelines along Hidden Valley in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City that affected water services from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in some parts of Cabancalan, Nasipit, Kalubihan, Hi-way 77, Cadahuan, Borbajo, Talamban proper, Kauswagan, San Jose Village, Purok 3, Tigbao and part of Barangay Bacayan in Cebu City.

During the same period, MCWD consumers in high elevation and interior parts of Gorordo Avenue, Sudlon, Sanjercasville, Maracas, Sanson Road, Salinas Drive Extension, Upper Fulton, Upper Stephenson and PC Hills in Barangay Lahug/Apas, Cebu City also experienced lack of water due to a brownout implemented by the Visayas Electric Company.

Furthermore, a six-hour water interruption from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. yesterday was also experienced in parts of Cabancalan, Talamban, Nasipit, Kalubihan, Hi-way 77, Cadahuan, Borbajo, Talamban proper, Kauswagan, San Jose Village, Purok 3, and part of Bacayan and Tigbao in Cebu City.

A 10-hour water service interruption from  8 a.m. yesterday  to  6 a.m. today likewise affected areas of Consolacion; Mandaue City; Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City; lower Mabolo, M.J. Cuenco Ave., North Reclamation Area, Pier area, Carreta, Lorega-San Miguel, Tejero, T. Padilla, Tinago, and San Roque, in Cebu City.

Also, from 10 p.m. last night to 6 a.m. today there would be no water in Compostela; Liloan; Consolacion; Mandaue City, Barangay Mactan Lapu-Lapu City, lower Mabolo, M.J. Cuenco Ave., Reclamation area, Pier area, Carreta, Lorega-San Miguel, Tejero, T. Padilla, Tinago, San Roque, in Cebu City.
