Minglanilla and Dalaguete: Almost P3M worth of shabu seized

CEBU, Philippines - Close to P3 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated from two suspected drug pushers, one of whom is a former police officer, in two anti-drug operations in the province.

Dismissed Police Officer 3 Francisco Keyserlin Martin Mondejar Gorosin III, of Lipata, Minglanilla, was handcuffed after the police saw him bringing a caliber .45 pistol in his bar in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City.

Senior Inspector Leo Logroño, team leader of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, said they implemented a search warrant in Gorosin’s residence at Sitio Canario Sandayong, Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town.

Gorosin was not in his house when they implemented the search warrant but they confiscated at least 175 grams worth of suspected shabu.

Logroño said they proceeded to Gorosin’s bar, Planet Zero bar, in San Isidro, Talisay City.

Instead of conducting a buy-bust operation, the operatives arrested him immediately after he was seen holding a caliber .45 pistol.  The operatives recovered from Gorosin at least 25 grams of suspected shabu.

The confiscated shabu was valued at P2.3 million based on the Dangerous Drugs Board estimates.

According to Logroño, Gorosin was assigned in Talisay City and San Francisco town before he was dismissed from service in 2012.

Meanwhile, a suspected drug pusher was arrested by the police after they seized closed to P500,000 worth of suspected shabu past 8 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town.

Gilbert Cartilla was arrested in Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town, after the police seized at least 42 grams of suspected shabu in his hideout.

The police recovered a large pack of suspected shabu when they implemented the search warrant issued by Judge Gilbert Moises, RTC Branch 18 of Cebu City.

Logroño said that the suspect could sell up to 200 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.3 million a week.

The suspect operates and resides in Badian town but has a hideout in Dalaguete.

The suspect was brought to the PIB office and will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
