Prosecutor not filing case vs ex-girlfriend

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Dionilo Mantos is not filing a complaint against his former girlfriend he accused of direct assault.

PO3 Elrich Catacutan of Carbon Police Station told The FREEMAN that Mantos appeared before their office around 2:30 p.m. yesterday and manifested that he was no longer pursuing his complaint against Jocelyn Sala, 28, before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.

“Dili siya mo-file (He intended not to file),” Catacutan said over the phone, adding Sala and Mantos had already talked about the incident.

Catacutan said Mantos made a citizen’s arrest of Sala at a parking lot along Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Kalubihan on January 8 around 3 p.m. when she threw a stone at the vehicle he was driving.

The police officer said after Mantos arrested Sala, she was turned over to their station and detained.

He said because Mantos manifested that he is no longer filing the case, they released Sala from their custody around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Based on the report, Sala went to the office of Mantos to ask for support for their eight-month-old baby who was sick.

Sala claimed she has another child from Mantos: a five-year-old girl.

The report said that according to Sala, Mantos promised to give her P2,000 a week for the needs of their children on condition that she will not bother him and would drop the complaints that she filed.

But the money, she claimed, was not enough because there were times when their children would get sick.

Sala admitted she threw stone at Mantos’ vehicle to stop him from leaving the vicinity.  (FREEMAN)
