Visayas power supply now back to normal after CEDC units trip-off
CEBU, Philippines - Three units of Cebu Energy Development Corporation tripped off Saturday evening, causing at least 30 minutes brownout in some parts of Cebu and Bohol.
All three units, however, are already back on line. It was synchronized back to the Visayas grid yesterday.
Engineer Jose Rey Maleza, of the Department of Energy-7, said that CEDC has only submitted an initial report.
“Nag-automatic open ang breakers sa CEDC. Their investigation is still ongoing,” Maleza said.
According to Maleza, the incident had caused power outages in some parts of Cebu and Bohol because of the automatic power deficiency it has created.
The Visayan Electric Company’s feeders KBL 314 and BNL 312 were affected, resulting to brownouts in Talamban and Banilad areas from 5:48 p.m. to 6:12 p.m.
In some parts of Bohol, NGCP said power was restored 24 minutes later. Maleza added that CEDC’s Unit 2 was restored at 11:21 p.m. on January 3, Unit 1 at 12:29 a.m. and Unit 3 at 6:21 a.m. yesterday.
“Normal na ang po-wer supply sa Visayas grid sa pagka karong adlawa,” said Maleza. (FREEMAN)
