Cebu marks Youth Ministry Awareness Week
CEBU, Philippines – The Archdiocese of Cebu yesterday formally closed the Youth Ministry Awareness Week during the fourth of the nine-day Misa de Gallo.
Throughout the week, starting last December 13, different activities were organized by the Parish Youth Coordinating Council.
In Archdiocesan Shrine of San Roque Mambaling, there was a boodle fight meal with the youth after the mass presided by Fr. Roberto Ebisa, SVD.
During his homily, Fr. Ebisa told the laity to maintain their faith despite the many problems they are facing.
“Kinahanglan hugot gayud ang pagtuo ug kanunay nga mosalig sa Ginoo bisan man sa unsang unos nga moabot sa kinabuhi tungod kay moabot ra gayud ang tamang panahon,” he said.
Ebisa added: “Niining panaw nato sa kina-buhi, kinahanglan sa usa ka tawo ang makanunayon nga pag-ampo nga walay pagpihig pihig ngadto sa labaw nga makagagahum.”
Aside from boodle fight, the laity who joined the mass celebration received free merienda from Reverend Fr. Miguelito “Pads Do” Sarmago, parish priest of San Roque Mambaling, and from the chapel officials.
Meanwhile, some 300 children from Barangay Kamagayan recieved gifts from the Friends of the Poor by Fr. Heinz Kuloke, SVD, and Brother Paul Bongcaras.
According to Fr. Lucas Ajawona, SVD, they are targeting to go to places where there is more concentration of children.
“Tanang mga lugar nga adunay daghan mga bata ug kabus mao gayud among adtoon aron hatdan sa mga grasya para makatagamtam sila og kalipay dili lamang sa Pasko apan sa matag adlaw nga tanan,” he said.
Ajawona said they first visited the kids in Inayawan Sanitary Landfill, followed by Barangay Kamagayan and Umapad Dump Site in Mandaue City. —/JMD (FREEMAN)
