Court indicts man for attempting to kill roommate
CEBU, Philippines – The Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a man who allegedly tried to kill his roommate using a frogman knife.
Prosecutor I Jill Ann Paculba-Gealon held Laurito Jerbese, 50, a resident of Alaska Proper, Mambaling, Cebu City, for trial for frustrated murder.
Gealon recommended P40,000 bail for Jerbese’s temporary liberty.
On October 23, 2015, Juanito Algoso, 51, alleged that when he arrived home around 6 a.m., he asked Jerbese why he did not cover the window with a curtain, but then there was no reply.
Since Algoso was sleepy, he covered the window with a curtain to block the heat of the sun, but then Jerbese allegedly got angry.
Algoso reportedly apologized and then lay down on his bed.
Minutes later, he said Jerbese went to kitchen and took a knife. When Algoso asked why Jerbese got knife, the latter allegedly did not say anything and instead tried to hit the victim on the right chest.
“I ran outside and shouted for help,” he said, adding Jerbese chased him and continuously attacked and uttered “Patyon tika buanga ka saba kay sa ko pandungog… patyon jud tika tagud-taguron tika.”
Police Officer 2 Romeo Ramas and four other policemen of Mambaling Police Station responded to the report on the hacking incident.
