Man indicted for robbery

CEBU, Philippines – The Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a man for allegedly robbing a 17- year-old last month at Sanciangko St., Barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City.

Assistant City Prosecutor Raul Cristoria held Ronnel Ylanan, 23, a resident of San Miguel, Lanao, Talisay City, Cebu for trial for robbery.

“...accused, conniving and confederating with Raul Carbonero aka Dante and John Doe who are still at large and who will be prosecuted separately as soon as procedural requirements is complied with and mutually helping one another, with deliberate intent, with intent of gain and by means of violence and intimadation upon a 17-year old by forcibly taking the money inside his pocket and Iphone 4s,” the charge sheet read.

Cristoria recommended P100,000 bail for Ylanan’s temporary liberty.

The complainant, a resident of F. Llamas Street, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City, alleged that while he was waiting for a taxi on October 28, 2015 at around 5 a.m. in front of the New Cebu Coliseum, three persons approached him to have their bills exchanged for coins.

The 17-year-old said that he told the men that he had no coins but they did not believe him and instead forcibly got his money and cellphone from his pocket.

The victim tried to resist but was allegedly beaten up and his neck was stabbed using a broken bottle.

Police Officer 2 Raydle Sardual and Police Officer 1 Asdshar Jalani of Carbon Police Station, who responded to a report from a concerned citizen, went to the area and arrested Ylanan but failed to arrest his cohorts who were able to escape. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
