Tanod puts daughter’s live-in partner in jail
CEBU, Philippines - A seaman was put in jail by his live-in partner’s father who saw the former allegedly hurting his daughter following a heated argument past 1 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay Upper Poblacion, Pilar town in Camotes Island.
Senior Police Officer 2 Dante Wenceslao, OIC of Pilar Police Station, said that when the father, who is also a barangay tanod, arrived at the house of the two, he saw the 34-year-old seaman and his daughter having a fight.
“Gipaak man sad gud ni sa babaye ang iyang tudlo sa seaman mao tong mikisi-kisi, pag bunlot sa kamot gipaak pa g’yud og maayo,” Wenceslao added.
The seaman reportedly tried everything to break from the grip of his live-in-partner’s teeth but failed.
He tried to pull his hands away from his live-in-partner’s mouth and slapped her face which knocked her tooth off.
The barangay tanod then arrested the seaman and brought him to the police station.
Wenceslao said that the tanod’s daughter and the seaman have been living together for three years now.
After the seaman was detained in jail, his live-in-partner still visited him and brought him food.
But the Pilar Police Station will still endorse the woman to the Muni-cipal Social Welfare and Development Office before they will proceed with the filing of any case against the seaman.
If the live-in-partner decides to file a case, he will be charged with serious physical injury in relation to Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004. (FREEMAN)
