CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a suspected robber accused of allegedly divesting a medical student of her personal belongings while walking along Vicente Gullas Medical Center a week ago.

Clifford Arita Bordario, 38, resident of Huyonghuyong, Barangay Tuason, Mandaue City, will face trial in court for robbery after assistant city prosecutor Mary Ann Castro found probable cause against him.

Castro recommended P80,000 bail for Bordario’s temporary liberty.

Bordario was accused by Vivien Loraine Duyongco, third year medical student at Gullas School of Medine in Banilad, Cebu City, of pointing a gun at her on September 6, 2015 while she and her classmate were walking towards Gullas Hospital.

The suspect allegedly demanded for her wallet and other valuable items including her cellphone.

“I looked at him because I thought he wanted to inquire something or sell an item which he was holding close to his belly. But as he was already near me, he pulled a pistol, cocked it and ordered me to give to him my wallet and my cellphone which I readily handed to him because he pointed the gun at me and would shoot me,” Duyongco’s complaint-affidavit read.

Duyongco said he then walked forward but the accused ordered her to also give her other phone which was placed inside her pocket. After the incident, the victim reported it to the Cebu City Police Office in Gorordo where she was showed several photos of suspected robbers from their computer files. The investigator referred her to Talamban Police Station where she was showed another set of photos and identified Bordario from among the pictures showed to her.

A follow up operation resulted in the arrest of Bordario who was positively identified by the victim during a police lineup.

“A policeman brought me inside a room and through a one-way glass; I was made to look at the persons inside the other room. From among the several persons inside the other room, I immediately identified the person who robbed me, whose name I now know as Clifford Bordario,” the affidavit read.

Aside from Duyongco, there were also two male students of the University of San Carlos who identified Bordario as the person who robbed them several days ago. — (FREEMAN)
