PMA staff in Cebu to recruit cadets
CEBU, Philippines - After noticing a decrease in applicants from Cebu, the Philippine Military Academy will now be accepting walk-in applicants during its recruitment on Sunday at Southwestern University.
PMA faculty member lieutenant Judilyn Canoneo said PMA conducted a research as to why they could not find suitable candidates from Cebu and found at least three reasons.
The three reasons, Canoneo said, include the lack of access to information that PMA is hiring new recruits; the abundance of scholarship opportunities; as well as the abundance of job opportunities in Cebu, compared to the other parts of the country.
Canoneo said that in order to address such concerns, she and other PMA faculty members are now conducting information campaign at the different schools and universities in Cebu.
They also took to mass media such as television and radio to disseminate the recruitment information.
Canoneo said there are also lots of perks the PMA can to offer to a cadet other than the scholarship that the government is offering and the leadership skills that a cadet will be learning.
For the recruitment process, PMA is calling on able-bodied men and women, who are 17 to 21 years old and have not been married, to take the entrance exams which will be held on Sunday, August 2, at SWU.
Interested applicants are advised to bring a photocopy of their birth certificate and high school card or transcript of records, and present these to the examiners.
Those who will pass the exams will become part of PMA Class 2020. — (FREEMAN)
