Two stabbed to death by drinking buddies

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Two men – including a 34-year-old man who suffered at least 50 stab wounds – died in separate incidents after they were stabbed by their drinking companions.

Jeffrey Tanodtanod, died instantly after he suffered 25 stab wounds in his back, chest and stomach.

His drinking partner, Reymond Carillo, 22, a native of Sibonga town, fled after the incident and is now a subject of a manhunt operation.

Senior Inspector Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Argao Police Station, said that the victim and Carillo were drinking rum prior to the incident.

Based on the accounts of the witnesses, after Tanodtanod and Carillo consumed two bottles, they had a heated argument and the suspect suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times.

Batobalonos said Carillo might have been holding a grudge against the victim and was only waiting for him to get drunk to kill him.

Meanwhile, Miguel Filipino, 38, was allegedly stabbed by Rory Mirasol, 38, past 7 p.m. on Thursday in Barangay Lagunde, Oslob town.

Filipino, a construction worker, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Oslob District Hospital after he suffered several stab wounds in his body while Mirasol fled away after the incident.

Initial investigation revealed Filipino and Mirasol were drinking early evening on Thursday but they had a heated argument.

Mirasol reportedly went home to get a knife and when he came back, he stabbed Filipino several times, which led to his death.

Witnesses called for police assistance and when they arrived at the scene, they brought the victim to the hospital but Filipino was already dead.
