Papuan New Guinean charged for touching woman’s butt at mall
CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old Papua New Guinean who allegedly touched a woman’s butt at an uptown mall in Cebu City was charged before the court for acts of lasciviousness.
Timothy Justine Norman, presently staying in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, was indicted before the Municipal Trial Court Branch 8 by City Prosecutor Maria Theresa Calibugan-Casiño.
In an inquest proceeding before Casiño, Norman opted not to avail of his right to preliminary investigation. Hence, his case was elevated to the MTC.
Norman was arrested by Mabolo police on July 17 following the complaint of a 28-year-old woman on the suspect’s alleged sexual advances.
The woman alleged that around 4 p.m. on July 17, she was about to enter the mall when Norman, who was believed to be under the influence of liquor, appeared behind her.
Norman reportedly raised her mini-skirt and touched her butt. The complainant sought the assistance of her friend and called for the police who were in the area.
The policemen assigned as beat patrol in the mall arrested Norman, who was at the time sitting on a bench.
Casiño recommended P12,000 bail for Norman’s temporary liberty. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
