Rep. Gullas gives boxes of vitamins to teachers

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Christmas came early for the public school teachers of the first congressional district when its representative, Cong. Eduardo R. Gullas personally handed out hundred of boxes of vitamin C and iron supplements yesterday.

“This is important than everything. This is for the health of the teachers,” Gullas said as he presented boxes of vitamin C capsules to the public school teachers of Sibonga town.

Gullas said he also wants teachers, being the front liners in the education sector, to take vitamins, like what he does, to avoid getting sick, especially in this hot season.

From Sibonga, the veteran lawmaker who is running for his third and final term this May, proceeded to Carcar City, then to San Fernando town, Naga City, Minglanilla town, and Talisay City to distribute the same stuff.

Each public school teacher received a box of either Ascorbic Acid capsules or iron supplements, depending on his/her choice, said Talisay City Edgardo Mabunay, who accompanied Gullas in yesterday’s turnover ceremony all throughout the six mentioned LGUs.

In each stop, Gullas was met by many teachers, principals and Department of Education personnel. Talisay City was the congressman’s last stop.

Apart from the vitamins, Gullas also brought basketball and volley balls and nets, electric bulbs and fluorescent lamps to be distributed to the different barangays, and reams of intermediate pad paper for the public school children.

At least 80 computers will also be delivered “in the coming days” to public schools which “need them most,” Gullas said in an interview.

In the past years, Gullas had been distributing computer sets with printers to public schools as part of his aim to make school children of the first district computer literate like their counterparts in the private schools.

Talisay City treasurer Emma Macuto, who was also there, said the project was supported by the congressman’s soft fund, which used up P7 million of his Priority Development Assistance Fund.
