DSWD being the implementing arm of the government for its social welfare program is a major employer for the school’s Social Work graduates.

In a related development, DSWD Secretary Celia Yangco despite being indisposed sent her keynote message to about 700 social workers during the recently concluded Social Workers Summit held here in Cebu City. She lauded DSWD-7 and USP-F for its concern for the continuing education program of social workers.

The secretary shared to the audience DSWD’s recognition of the value and need for clinical social work interventions in the country.

However, she said, that with the advent of global challenges and the emergence of social issues that impact on our poor population, social workers are also called to reflect on their assumptions, rethink their practices and reexamine priorities. — /MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
