Peddler, 3 others fall in drug bust

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- The City Intelligence Branch operatives arrested four persons, including a suspected drug pusher, and confiscated P35,000 worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Quiot Sunday night.

Ceasar Sabandija, a suspected drug pusher, was arrested after he reportedly sold a small pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to the CIB operative. The operative then used the pre-arranged signal for his fellow operatives to swoop on the suspect.

Adam Ybañez, Willie Bejec and Alvaro Rosales were also arrested for being present during the buy-bust operation. Police said the three also yielded several packs of suspected shabu and paraphernalia.

Superintendent Romeo Santander, CIB chief, said the operation stemmed from a complaint that they received from the barangay officials.

After conducting four days of validation through surveillance, police carried out the buy-bust past 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The police confiscated 29 small packs of suspected shabu, including the subject of the buy-bust and the buy-bust money, and P1,620 sales proceeds from Sabandija.

The police also confiscated a medium pack of suspected shabu from Ybañez, and drug paraphernalia from Bejec and Alvaro.

The confiscated drugs had a total street value of P35,300.

During the first quarter of 2015, the police have confiscated over P15 million worth of suspected shabu in different anti-illegal drug operations.

Police Regional Office-7 was earlier named as the top performing police regional office in the campaign against illegal drugs and ranks second in the campaign against loose firearms.  (FREEMAN)
