JVR eyes time limit for disco in Talisay City
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes wants a time limit in all disco activities in the city to prevent troubles.
“Kutob nalang na alas dose ang mga disco kay kargado gyud sa gubot kana na’ng nangahubog ang mga tawo. So para malikayan na, (ta)gaan nalang nato og limit ang mga disco,” said De los Reyes.
The plan came after a number of incidents involving drunk persons were reported in the police station during the weekend because of the fiesta celebration in Barangay Lagtang.
At 4 a.m. yesterday, a partygoer was shot in the said barangay while attending the disco.
“Sakto na siguro na’ng hangtud alas dose nga kalingawan, syaro dili pa sila malingaw ana,” he said.
De los Reyes said the move is also to protect innocent individuals. Former mayor Socrates Fernandez used to ban discos at the Talisay City Sports Complex following a series of troubles spawned by rival gangs and fraternities.— Liv G. Campo/FPL (FREEMAN)
