Man back in jail for hindering arrest

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man who is out on parole ended up back in jail after he helped his friend who is wanted for attempted murder escape from authorities.

At past 8 a.m. last Friday, police went to the house of Jonas Llagoso, 30, in Dumanjug to verify reports that he was harboring Gilbert Belleza who had a standing warrant of arrest.

However, when Llagoso saw the cops heading toward his house, he reportedly shouted to alert Belleza.

“Naay polis Bert!” PO1 Edmundo Sala quoted Llagoso as saying.

Because of this, Belleza jumped out of the window and ran into the bushes. Police searched for him for several hours but to no avail.

It was during investigation at the police station when the cops found out that Llagoso was out on probation. Llagoso was convicted of homicide and concealing of deadly weapon.

Sala said Llagoso admitted his mistake.

Llagoso is currently detained at the Dumanjug Police Station and will be facing charges of obstruction of justice and harboring of criminals. — Bryner L. Diaz/JMO (FREEMAN)
