CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were injured after they were shot by two unidentified assailants Monday night in Barangay Kinasang-an, Pardo, Cebu City.

Kenneth Fajartin, a 22-year-old bread vendor, sustained a gunshot wound to his neck while Janine Mae Omiping, a 25-year-old carenderia helper, was wounded in her left cheek.

Fajartin told the police that he was walking on his way home near an artesian well at around 9:30 p.m. when one of two unidentified persons suddenly shot him.

Police Officer 3 Nilo Aventurado of the Cebu City Police Office's Homicide Section said Omiping, who was about to take a bath in the artesian well, was also hit.

Both victims denied knowing the perpetrators.

Aventurado said Fajartin was the possible target of the gunman since he was the first to be shot.

Fajartin was rushed by personnel of Barangay Pardo Emergency Response Unit to Cebu City Medical Center.

Omiping, on the other hand, managed to go home and reported the incident to her mother, Vilma Dampias, who then brought her to CCMC.

Aventurado said Omiping is already in a stable condition while Fajartin continues to get medical treatment.

“Nagsige og kaubos ang blood pressure ni Fajartin but maayo pa siya mostorya,” he added.

Pardo Police Station personnel conducted a hot pursuit operation against the escaping assailants.

Aventurado said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive of the perpetrators. — (FREEMAN)
