Worker’s head almost severed in hacking
CEBU, Philippines - A factory worker’s head was almost severed from his neck after he was hacked dead allegedly by his drinking buddy on Sunday dawn in Barangay Baring, Carmen town.
Jenzen Heyrosa, 23, of Barangay Cantipay, was found dead in Barangay Baring with hack wounds in his body. He was believed to be killed by Ronnie Incedencia, 29, and a certain Michael who were last seen to be his companions.
Police Officer 1 Chistito Aresco, desk officer at Carmen police, said Incedencia and Michael were seen having a videoke session with the victim before he was found dead.
A ball cap allegedly owned by Incedencia was found at the crime scene but he was nowhere to be found when the police looked for him.
Based on the investigation, the suspects and the victim were drinking all night long that day. At past 4 a.m. on Sunday, they reportedly figured in an argument and decided to go home.
But few minutes later, residents around the area heard a sound that they thought was coming from a man who was cutting firewood.
A resident found the body of the victim near the road, blooded and with hack wounds that almost severed his head from his body.
“Nakadungog ang mga tawo sa area nga naa daw mura’g gitadtad sa gawas. Abi nila og unsa to, tawo naman diay,” Aresco said.
The victim sustained several wounds in his hands and in his shoulders and so police believed the victim might have struggled for his life before he was subdued.
The residents did not hear a scream or any sound that might have hinted them that something was going on in the neighborhood.
The police also believed that the suspect was not acting alone when he killed the victim.
“Duda nako, gitabangan ni kay kung usa lang ka tawo, makadagan pa unta ni siya kay parehas man sila nga nakainom. Misulay pa siguro ni siya og sagang pero gitabangan,” Aresco suggested.
The police are still investigating on the argument that might have led to the killing.
When the investigators reached the crime scene, they have not recovered the weapon used in the killing.
The police are conducting a hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspects but they remained at large as of press time yesterday. (FREEMAN)
